Money for Women in Lace Making

My daughter found a bobbin lace book in a second hand store, and gave it to me for Christmas. It is a wonderful book, with prickings for 55 patterns. The only catch - it's in French, and the translation has been lost.
I have discovered the book is available online, here is a link: Les Dentelles aux Fuseaux, look for Dillmont, Th.
No matter, I will find a way to make it work. First I must decide which pattern I want to try. The book starts with a beginner strip, and progresses from there.
A nice little bonus was this advertisement taped inside the front page. It's from April, 1905 Modern Priscilla.

Third Time is the Charm

My third Christmas spiral is finally off the pillow. I lost interest about the half way mark, so I am done with spirals until next year. The second spiral is Honeycomb alternating with a small spider, the third spiral alternates a cloth stitch diamond and small spider. The potential variations are endless, next year I might be skilled enough to try some of the more difficult stitches.
The metallic thread sparkles just a bit once the lace is stiffened to the spiral shape. My heavy duty spray starch makes the #80 tatting cotton hold its shape very well. I can see that I need to be more careful when I shape my spiral, and I will try to make this last one graceful enough that I can bring it to the ornament exchange next week.
