Needle Lace Pillow

Encouraged by my friends and by This post on Stitchety Grub's blog, I searched the house for a suitable container. J has lots of stuff in the basement, and I found a round plastic jug that held bungee cords at one time. It is thin plastic, but just the right size with a cap that twists on. I decided to give it a try.
I found a nice self sealing foam that had been a cushion for sleeping bags. I've used it for other projects, and had enough left to wrap around my jar. J glued it on with epoxy.
I had amore than 1/2 yard denim leftovers, and sewed a cover for the pillow. I gathered the bottom and covered that with 2 circles that had been stitched and turned.
I added a drawstring through a casing at the top. I can open the cap and carry things inside if I want to. I'm not sure how convenient that will be, but I have the option.
I added another layer of fabric to attach my pattern, and pinned it snug with my "dowel" in place. It is a huge knitting needle from the 1970s, probably a 35 or something like that. I don't ever remember using it, and maybe I'll eventually settle on a smaller dowel.
I have worked on it a little, and there is a big difference in the way it works. I didn't have enough light, so I set it aside and will try again this afternoon.
I think it might be very nice, but it is very light weight and shifts a bit too much. I will give it a chance, and see if I can adjust. If not, I may get myself an anniversary present.

Why not fill the jar with something heavy---maybe a bag full of sand. That should give it a lot more weight and it might not move around. I'd also put something behind it---maybe a covered brick or a pile of books. You get the idea.....
